Why Coalition is Bringing Active Cyber Insurance to Germany

Why Coalition is Bringing Active Cyber Insurance to Germany

The launch of Active Cyber Insurance in Germany is a major milestone in Coalition history. In less than seven years, we expanded across North America to launch in Canada (and Quebec), hopped across the pond to the United Kingdom, and headed down under to Australia.

When considering our next territory to launch, Germany was the obvious choice.

Cyber risk is the most significant concern for business leaders globally, according to the Allianz Risk Barometer 2024, and the leading business risk in Germany. Yet, the adoption rate for cyber insurance is relatively low among all business segments in the country.

Coalition sees a tremendous opportunity to help German businesses identify, mitigate, and respond to cyber threats. Active Insurance introduces a new kind of protection to businesses in need — a protection that not only provides support after an attack but one that can help prevent and mitigate risk before and during an attack.

Furthermore, we’re proud to bring Active Insurance to Germany with the support and trust of Allianz, both as an investor and a capacity partner, as we forge new relationships with brokers and other insurance professionals.

Successes in UK and Australia bode well for expansion

After successful launches in the United Kingdom and Australia, Coalition has established itself as a reliable international player. We’ve demonstrated our ability to enter a market and differentiate ourselves with Active Insurance.

In less than two years, we’ve made a significant mark in London — the center of international insurance with more competitors than any other market — and proven ourselves capable of growing a loyal broker base in a crowded, mature marketplace. Meanwhile in Australia, Coalition has already grown to more than 1,000 policyholders in just nine months.

Now, we’re confident that we can carry this momentum into Germany.

Committed to building deep, local relationships

Our near-term goal in Germany is straightforward: to build meaningful, long-lasting relationships with as many brokers as possible.

We recognize and appreciate that Germany has a large, sophisticated insurance market and healthy distribution system supported by both retail and wholesale brokers. Coalition is on our mission to protect the unprotected, which means meeting brokers wherever they are to drive new buyers into the market.

Our near-term goal in Germany is straightforward: to build meaningful, long-lasting relationships with as many brokers as possible.

With capacity provided by Allianz Global Corporate & Speciality SE, brokers are now able to quote Coalition’s Active Cyber Insurance for businesses with up to €1 billion in revenue on a primary basis with no minimum premium requirement.

Every time Coalition enters a new country, we do so with confidence and conviction that Active Insurance has the power to transform the cyber insurance market. Nonetheless, we remain committed to building a local approach, servicing brokers and customers, and driving trust and adoption in our Active Insurance solution.
